At this stage only one of the LIVE safari.tv vehicles at Djuma have been setup for 3D broadcasting. Over the coming months a second 3D safari vehicle will be added and will traverse over an adjoining property to Djuma, the waterhole camera system will be upgraded to 3DHD and a brand new LIVE 3D underwater channel will be developed!!

However, there are a few different ways that you can watch the safaris in 3D.

On the web ...

The new WildEarth.tv website has a brand new custom built player, which was designed and coded by our new partners at Pixel Project (Pixel Project) ... WE call this player the 'pixelplayer'. :) There are quite a few unique and special features to this player, but certainly one of the most distinct is the fact that it can play 3D anaglyph video. Now what its doing is taking the side-by-side video, splitting it into the left and right 'eyes', giving each one a slight colour tint and then overlaying them Then when you view this video through a pair of either red/green or red/blue glasses each of your eyes sees a different video stream by virtue of the colour tinting. If you click on the '3D' button at the bottom right of the pixelplayer you will be able to select exactly what flavour of anaglyph video that you would like to view.

on your iPhone ...

Watching a LIVE safari in 3D using a pair of Zeiss Cinemizers through your iPhone while on the go is a phenomenal experience and a glance into the future of immersive experiential television. You really feel like you are on safari in Africa, and everything else in your world . You will need to have an iPhone and have downloaded the WE iPhone app (link) and then a pair of Zeiss Cinemizers

On your 3D enabled TV ...

If you are lucky enough to have one of the new 3D enabled TVs and you live in France and have a subscription to Free.fr you can watch WE in full 3DHD (5 Mbps) for no additional cost. Most of the TV manufacturers have a range of 3DTVs now and these mostly come with at least one pair of shutter glasses, which make for the highest quality 3D television experience currently available. if you have one of these TVs, but do not live in France, and do not have a subscription to Free.fr you can subscribe to LiveStaion and get a 1 Mbps 3D stream, which if you have either a Sony Playstation 3 or a Boxee Set Top Box you will be able to play on your 3DTV. WE will soon be supporting more Set Top Boxes, including the new Google TV standard.
